Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure to enlarge small breasts or to restore the lost breast fullness that happens after the pregnancy or weight loss.

The best candidates for breast augmentation are the women that seek for improvement not perfection. If you want to enhance your body contour, if you feel that your breasts are too small, if you want to achieve better symmetry, breast augmentation will enhance the size and the shape of your breast, fitting better blouses, bathin suits and other clothes.

The procedure is made in a proper operating room, under general anesthesia and last for one or two hours. The procedure begins making an incision around the nipple – areola complex, in the axils or the submamary crease (where the chest joins the abdomen).

A sub muscular pocket is made and a cohesive silicone gel implant is placed under the pectoral’s muscle. The patient remains in hospital for twenty four hours, with proper antibiotics and pain killer treatment. After the surgery the patient will wear a compression bra and will have two drains going outside of the chest.

The drains will be removed in three or four days after the surgery. The surgical wound will be closed with absorbable sutures. There will be no need to remove external stitches.

The patient can return to work in ten days and will be allowed to do vigorous activity in four weeks. Dr. Velasco encourages the patients to return as soon as possible to their normal activities, not strong physical activities.

When the implant is placed under the muscle the patient arms movements will give the best postoperative massage available. Giving the patient a shorter recovery time.
